SHELTER FROM THE STORM ELECTS NEW OFFICERS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

PALM DESERT: May 15, 2009– Shelter from the Storm has announced the election of new officers to its Board of Directors.

Serving two-year terms, effective June 30, 2009, will be President, Kevin McGuire (President and CEO of Palm Desert National Bank); President-Elect, Irwin Golds (Member of the Board of Palm Desert National Bank); Vice-President, Steve Bloomquist (former Chief Deputy, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department); Treasurer, Robert Baltes (CPA and owner of Baltes & Associates); and Secretary, Mary Heckman (PhD and educator).

Shelter from the Storm is the Coachella Valley’s only provider of emergency shelter-based services for victims of domestic violence and abuse, serving some 3,000 women and children annually through its 10 valley locations.
