The Gardens Concert Series featuring "Penny Unniversity"

by Tania Kidd, Staff Writer

Palm Desert, CA - More than 270 people enjoyed a beautiful evening at The Gardens on El Paseo as Penny Unniversity performed a variety of global fusion jazz selections.

The four-member group was the second band featured in the 2014 Saturday evening concert series. All proceeds on this particular evening benefited Shelter from the Storm.

Tickets were available for a $12 donation which included a variety of light refreshments provided by Pacifica Seafood and Sullivan's Steakhouse, and two glasses of wine sponsored by Anderholt Whittaker.

After introductions by K-Jazz radio personality Jim "Fitz" Fitzgerald, (KJJZ 102.3) and a few words by Angelina Coe, Executive Director of SFTS, band members Micheal Anthony Gagliardi (guitar), Ted Alan Walker (bass), Jack LeCompte (drums), and Rene Almodovar (percussion) delighted enthusiastic concert-goers with their "global style" music.

According to SFTS Chief Financial Officer, Jeffrey Kramer, over $2500 was raised to support the shelter.

Penny Unniversity's website features their upcoming show schedule and samples of their music, plus information on their album, "Over a Glass of Wine," available now on I-tunes.

American Cab sponsored Shelter from the Storm for this event and we wish to thank them for their ongoing support. Other concert series sponsors are listed below.
