SHELTER FROM THE STORM SEEKS HOLIDAY GIFT DONATIONS
PALM DESERT: December 2, 2009 –Shelter from the Storm, the Coachella Valley’s only provider of emergency shelter-based services for victims of domestic violence and abuse, is seeking holiday gift donations for its more than 700 women and children served through its residential programs.
The public is invited to drop off unwrapped toys and games for children and toiletries and personal items for mothers and teens by December 16, at the following locations:

All donations will be wrapped by the nonprofit agency’s volunteers and presented at a special holiday party for residents on December 19th.
Shelter from the Storm serves some 2,500 women and children annually through its five valley program locations. Key operations include a 72-bed emergency shelter with two onsite schools, substance abuse and life skills programs and a medical clinic, long-term transitional housing, a community counseling center, outreach crisis intervention centers, teen dating violence prevention and education in schools, and ongoing community awareness, education and training programs. |
